What we do
CGCM is a collective action for supporting the implementation, follow-up and review of the global commitments on migration. CGCM focuses on -
Campaigning for the inclusion of critical issues in global compacts and advocating for their adoption, ratification and implementation
Contributing to the achievement of global goals through partnership and collrective actions
Tracking the progress of the global commitments by collecting evidence and preparing shadow/progress reports
The global initiatives such as the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have set specific, achievable and measurable targets to ensure safe, orderly and ethical migration. The role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in these global commitments are well recognized and formalized, and can be categorized in three areas – advocating, achieving and monitoring.
Given the diverse and independent nature of CSOs and the complex nature of these consultative processes, tracking of these commitments by CSOs require more technical, systematic and collaborative engagement.
To address the gap of tracking global commitments on migration, a number of CSOs have decided to initiate and invite other CSOs for tracking the global commitments on migration.
